Sometimes creativity comes from adversity.
At the end of World War I, Steiff faced a shortage of wool and similar luxurious materials.
The company was always innovative and found ways to produce bears and animals using a substitute paper plush. This paper plush was used from 1919 to 1921.
In 2010, this fabric was reused for the first time for a special Steiff club edition, and in 2014, a white paper plush bear was released.
With this rediscovered technology, a platinum gray bear is now being introduced.
This bear has wooden eyes and a gray, hand-stitched nose. He wears a very special silver breastplate with the first elephant logo of the Steiff company.
