A Kongming Lock fastens wooden beams together without screws or glue, a principle that has been used in China for centuries. The name refers to Zhuge Liang, nicknamed Kongming, a strategist from the third century.
Designer Johoson Zhao from China took that classic idea and gave it a triangular twist, with a good dose of mathematics thrown in. In the Triangular Kongming Lock, seven wooden parts come together to form a whole, and only when you understand which piece blocks which other one does everything fall into place.
