The male is the largest of the wild boar family: 7.5 cm high, with a heavy head, high shoulder, and typical bristly back. In the forest, he usually roams alone, while the sow stays with her piglets, and that's what makes him such a rewarding figure to start forest play with. The dark wood allows the grain to show through well.

Each figure is handmade in Germany, using wood from sustainable domestic forestry. Each figure from the Ostheimer collection is a unique piece made with much love and care. The water-based colors are slightly transparent to highlight the wood grain; the play figures are not finished with varnish to keep the beauty of the wood visible. The unpainted figures are oiled with vegetable oil from organic farming.
