Lamb lying by Ostheimer is a beautiful piece of wooden toy and immerses every child in a world of imagination. This timeless wooden toy is inspired by Waldorf education, which prefers high-quality natural materials and clear toys to unleash creativity and imagination.
This lamb lies curled up to rest, with its legs tucked under and its head upright. It is 4.5 cm high and fits perfectly in a child's hand. The sheep, by the way, are the oldest figures from the workshop: they were designed for the nativity scene even before the other farm animals, and Margarete Ostheimer gave them their classic shape. The shepherd with his dog later became the brand's logo.
Each figure is handcrafted in Germany, using wood from sustainable domestic forestry. Each doll from the Ostheimer collection is a unique piece made with great love and care. The water-based colors are slightly transparent to emphasize the wood grain; the play figures are not finished with varnish to keep the beauty of the wood visible. The unpainted figures are oiled with vegetable oil from organic farming.
At Ostheimer, they make toys that stimulate children's imagination and nurture their creativity. We at In den Olifant are, of course, fans of this! The passion with which Ostheimer handcrafts open-ended toys has been a beacon of craftsmanship for over eighty years. Combine the lying lamb with the standing sheep, the shepherd with staff, and other Ostheimer play figures to create an imaginative play world for your children.
