In den Olifant is thrilled to be the flagship store for the Swedish brand Brio, best known for its wooden train tracks, trains, and train accessories. Every child develops through play, year after year, so all Brio toys are designed to support every stage of a child's development—and have been since 1884!

Toys should help children grow
A crucial part for Brio's toy designers is watching children play and understanding how they think and react. That's why they spend a lot of time testing new toys by observing how children use them and trying to learn from them before finalizing a design. " This is incredibly exciting because you're always surprised. Children's imaginations are a wonderful world, " says Daniel Maurtizson, Lead Designer at Brio.
Successful toys can spark a child's imagination and be part of their growth through play—even at different ages. Take the famous Toddler Wobbler, for example, which can be used to teach your child to walk. As your toddler gets older, they can use the Wobbler to store various items. And later in your little one's development, the walker becomes a cart for transporting other toys during role-play. Brio loves using toys at different levels as children grow. As you get to know the brand, you'll see that they carefully consider these things, a valuable fact that will only increase your love for Brio.

Only well-thought-out material choices
All the wood in the Brio collections is beech, except in one case where they use pine. Beech grows only in Europe, from southern Sweden to the northern Balkans. Since 2014, all the wood Brio uses has been FSC certified. This guarantees that it comes from renewable forests and that no unique biospheres are destroyed.
Wood has always been the primary material for BRIO products. Plastic details are also present, adding unique play value. Unlike wood, which can only be processed, plastic can be shaped into various shapes and detailed designs. Therefore, it's easy to incorporate plastic materials into wood-based toys. The two materials complement each other well.
These thoughtful material choices not only enhance play value but are also driven by the desire to meet strict toy safety requirements. Playing with Brio is not only fun, but also responsible and completely safe.
