The Ostheimer Shetland Foal is the smallest horse in the Ostheimer stable, immersing each of us in a world of imagination. This timeless wooden toy is inspired by Waldorf education, which favors high-quality natural materials and uncluttered toys to unleash creativity and imagination.
The foal is still small, but already quite sturdily built. Shetlands get that from their origins: on the rugged Shetland Islands, they had to be tough and weather-resistant. They are known for being intelligent, patient, and good-natured with children. Place the foal near the standing and walking Shetland ponies, and you have a complete pony family in the meadow.
Each figure is handmade in Germany, using wood from sustainable domestic forestry. Every piece from the Ostheimer collection is unique and crafted with much love and care. The water-based colors are slightly transparent to highlight the wood grain, and the figures are not finished with varnish to keep the beauty of the wood visible. They are oiled with vegetable oil from organic farming.
At Ostheimer, they make toys that stimulate children's imagination and nurture their creativity. We at In den Olifant are naturally fans of this! The passion with which Ostheimer handcrafts open-ended toys has been a beacon of craftsmanship for over eighty years. Place the foal with the horse stable, the Shetland ponies, and other Ostheimer farm animals to create an imaginative play world for your children.
