Puzzle names sometimes originate in the strangest ways. Akaho comes from Czech designer Vinco's HoWeDia project, in which he breathes new life into his old designs. In this case, he transformed his 2005 puzzle Eight Houses into this Akaho in 2022.
This wooden brain-teaser is a pin-and-hole puzzle: nine pieces that only fit together if each pin slides into the correct hole and everything is in the right order. Vinco, whose real name is Vaclav Obsivac, has worked with symmetrical shapes in precious wood all his life, and that is evident in the finish.
Eureka's 3D VIP Gold series is made from red padauk, black walnut, and white maple, and comes in a gift box with a magnetic closure. A wooden puzzle to give as a gift to someone who doesn't give up easily, or simply to keep on your own desk.
