Quality and design are perfectly matched with this top brand from our collection and their extensive collection of colourful children's scooters, scooters for teenagers and adults. A great brand with a great history
Micro Mobility has a rich history and a clear philosophy that goes hand in hand with every child and dates back to its founding in Switzerland in the 1990s. Micro Mobility's story began when the inventor of the Micro Scooter - Wim Ouboter, a Swiss of Dutch origin - wanted to develop a means of transport for covering "micro" distances. His goal was to provide simple, practical and sustainable mobility solutions for people in urban environments. Something that In den Olifant, as a toy store in the city centre of Antwerp, naturally immediately appreciates.
In 1996, Micro designed the very first foldable aluminium scooter with small skateboard wheels. An important milestone in Micro Mobility's history. This invention changed the way people - and many children - moved around and laid the foundation for the company's success. Since then, Micro Mobility has developed a wide range of products, all with the same focus on quality, functionality and durability. Pure Swiss design and excellent quality.
The result is designs and products that make everyday life easier, while at the same time having a positive impact on the environment, our planet and the future. This is reflected in the quality, innovation and every design. A nice addition to In den Olifant's toy collection and wonderful for children to explore the world.
"Light hearts make for swift travels. Kids have that. Adults should cherish it.
Movement is freedom. And freedom is fun!"
Every Micro scooter is built to last
At Micro Mobility, sustainability and quality are paramount. Every scooter, from the Mini Micro to a Micro Cruiser for adults, is designed with the philosophy built to last. A great riding experience and quality parts form the basis of every scooter. Only carefully selected high-quality materials are used, and it's good to know that they subject their products to strict quality controls to ensure they comply with national and international safety standards. This means that Micro scooters can withstand years of intensive use and you can be sure that you are choosing quality that will last a long time.
But what is truly special about Micro scooters is that the brand has also thought about repair and maintenance. Should anything ever go wrong, all parts are available for at least 10 years. This means you can carry out simple repairs yourself, without the need to replace the entire scooter. This is unique in the industry and once again ensures a very sustainable story.
Everyone is a fan of those fantastic LED wheels
Scootering is one thing. But the accessories and features of Micro scooters are what make many children's eyes light up. Almost literally. Because in our collection of Micro Mobility you will find a whole range of scooters with lights in the wheels. The LED lights in the wheels of Micro Scooter add a striking and fun element to the scooter, while also providing extra visibility and safety in low light conditions. These bright lights are activated when the wheels spin, creating a striking light effect and requiring no batteries. Sounds like music to every parent's ears, doesn't it?
The LED lights in the wheels of Micro Scooter do not need batteries because they are powered by the rotation of the wheels themselves. This makes them extremely convenient and maintenance-free. There are also special LED moon wheels with an extra row of lights in the wheels, making them light up even more when in use. In addition, you can also buy a set of wheels with lights separately and mount them on your scooter if you don't have any yet.
A Scooter that Grows with You Thanks to the Continuously Height-Adjustable Handlebar
Ride safely with your Micro scooter by adjusting your scooter to your own body height, or by letting your child's scooter grow with them as your toddler gets bigger. With Micro scooters, the handlebars are continuously height-adjustable. This means you can set the handlebar to any desired height within a certain range. The handlebar can be slid up or down and secured at the desired height.
This system offers a high degree of flexibility, making it suitable for a wide range of users. Most other scooter manufacturers use handlebars that are designed with often 3 fixed positions, which you don't have with Micro Mobility :-)
Steering with your Weight, It's Like Surfing the Streets.
Another recognizable feature of Micro are their 3-wheeled scooters with the lean-to-steer system, also known as the "tilt-and-steer" mechanism. Parents often find this strange, but children often get the hang of it immediately and love it. Instead of the traditional handlebar that you turn with your hands, this system uses the rider's leaning to steer the scooter. Micro invented this mechanism in collaboration with Swiss medical experts. It is designed to promote children's gross motor skills, hand-eye coordination, core strength, spatial awareness, muscle coordination, self-confidence, and independence, and has been reviewed and approved by a biomechanics expert.
What are the basic principles of the lean-to-steer mechanism?
- Lean left or right: When the rider leans to the left, the handlebar tilts to the left and steers the scooter to the left. The same applies, of course, to leaning to the right.
- Centering: The handlebar returns to its neutral position when the rider is not leaning. This means that if the rider stops leaning, the handlebar automatically returns to an upright position, keeping the scooter going straight.
- Intuitive: The lean-to-steer system is often more intuitive for children than a traditional handlebar. Instead of learning how to turn the handlebar, they only need to learn how to move their body to steer the scooter, which feels more natural for many children.
- Stability: This system can also help promote stability while riding. Because the handlebar responds to the body's movements, the rider can more easily maintain balance, especially when making turns.
A collection to be proud of: the Micro ECO line
It's not just about beautiful Swiss design and quality materials. For its eco-line, Micro Mobility focuses on tackling the plastic problem in the oceans through innovative and environmentally friendly initiatives. The deck and brake of the Eco scooters are made from recycled and reused "Green Plastic," sourced from the maritime industry, such as old fishing nets, ropes, and other plastic waste that would otherwise end up in the sea. This approach not only reduces the amount of plastic waste but also reduces the ecological footprint and stimulates a circular economy. In addition, Micro donates 1% of the sales of the ECO-line to environmental organizations. The Eco scooters are available in light green, dark green, and black, the colour of the nets.
