The roebuck is the male roe deer, recognizable by its antlers and, at 12.5 cm, immediately the largest of the series. He stands proudly upright with his head up, as if scanning the edge of the forest. Each figurine is handmade in Germany, using wood from sustainable domestic forestry. Each doll from the Ostheimer collection is a unique piece made with much love and care. The water-based colors are slightly transparent to emphasize the wood grain; the play figures are not finished with varnish to keep the beauty of the wood visible. The unpainted figurines are oiled with vegetable oil from organic farming.
