Each figure is handmade in Germany, using wood from sustainable domestic forestry. Every doll from the Ostheimer collection is a unique piece made with great love and care. The water-based paints are slightly transparent to emphasize the wood grain, and the play figures are not finished with varnish to keep the beauty of the wood visible. The unpainted figures are oiled with vegetable oil from organic farming.
