Ox II from Ostheimer is a wonderful addition to your child's wooden animal collection, but it also belongs just as well in the nativity scene, in the story of the ox and the donkey around the manger. This timeless wooden toy is inspired by Waldorf education, which prefers high-quality natural materials and clear toys to unleash creativity and imagination.
This ox stands upright with its head forward and, at 11 cm, is one of the larger figures, making it immediately present next to the manger. Place him opposite the donkey and the familiar Christmas scene is set, but he also serves as a draft animal on the farm. The rounded shapes and visible wood grain make each piece slightly different.
Each figurine is handmade in Germany, using wood from sustainable domestic forestry. Every wooden animal from the Ostheimer collection is a unique piece made with a lot of love and care. The water-based colours are slightly transparent to emphasize the wood grain; the play figures are not finished with varnish to keep the beauty of the wood visible. The unpainted figures are oiled with vegetable oil from organic farming.
At Ostheimer, they make toys that stimulate children's imagination and nurture their creativity. Of course, we are fans of that at In den Olifant! The passion with which Ostheimer handcrafts open-ended toys has been a beacon of craftsmanship for over eighty years. Combine the ox with the donkey, the manger, and other Ostheimer play figures to create an imaginative play world for your little ones.
