The sparrow is one of the smallest birds in the series, with a compact brown body and a short beak. Each figurine is handmade in Germany, using wood from sustainable domestic forestry. Every figurine from the Ostheimer collection is a unique piece made with much love and care. The water-based colors are slightly transparent to emphasize the wood grain; the play figures are not finished with varnish to keep the beauty of the wood visible. The unpainted figures are oiled with vegetable oil from organic farming.
