Ostheimer's Lady-in-Waiting is a wooden play figure that immediately immerses you in a world full of fun and imagination. This timeless wooden toy is inspired by Waldorf education, which prefers high-quality natural materials and uncluttered toys to let creativity and imagination run wild.
The lady-in-waiting belongs to the retinue of the king and queen: she is the one who keeps the princess company, delivers messages, and participates in every ceremony. In a long dress and with a calm demeanor, she stands beautifully next to the throne, but in play, she often gets her own story, because every court has its secrets, after all.
Each figure is handmade in Germany, using wood from sustainable domestic forestry. Every figurine from the Ostheimer collection is a unique piece made with great love and care. The water-based colors are slightly transparent to emphasize the wood grain; the play figures are not finished with varnish to keep the beauty of the wood visible. The unpainted figurines are oiled with vegetable oil from organic farming.
At Ostheimer, they make toys that stimulate children's imagination and nurture their creativity. Of course, we are fans of that at In den Olifant! The passion with which Ostheimer hand-makes open-ended toys has been a beacon of craftsmanship for over eighty years. Combine the lady-in-waiting with the queen, the princess, the maiden, and other Ostheimer play figures to create an imaginative play world for your little ones.
