Een skewb draait niet rond zijn vlakken maar rond zijn hoeken, en dat voelt vanaf de eerste beweging vreemd aan. De Hollow Skewb Ultimate doet daar nog een schep bovenop: hij heeft geen kern, dus je kijkt er dwars doorheen terwijl je draait.
De Hollow reeks van Meffert bestaat uit puzzels zonder centrale as. Dat levert bewegingen op die zelfs ervaren puzzelaars niet meteen herkennen, en meteen ook een opvallend ontwerp. Meffert is het huis van Uwe Mèffert, de bedenker van de Pyraminx.
